Episode 41

ADHD, Eating and Food Disorders with Becca King

Growing up Becca enjoyed eating but feared gaining weight, which caused complications.

In an attempt to control her environment and over-stimulated brain she ate less. Becca lost a lot of weight especially during her teenage years when her family relocated and she changed schools; fixating on food helped her focus.

Her eating disorder’s shape shifted from anorexia to binge eating. At nineteen, Becca was diagnosed with ADHD and prescribed medication. Along with specific practical support her symptoms improved.

It was only when Becca was studying to be a dietician - learning about the physical effects on the body from poor nutrition – and her subsequent discovery of Intuitive Eating that everything fell into place.

Today, Becca advocates an Intuitive Eating approach, from an ADHD perspective, for her clients while managing their medication and executive function around cooking and eating.

Tune in to hear how Becca combines her unique insight and perspective on ADHD and nutrition helping to bring others to a place of love, acceptance and nourishment.
